For the past few days there has been ongoing construction just outside of my office building doors. Included in that has been the uprooting of trees, drilling of concrete and just overall noise, noise, noise. Up until my lunch break today, I thought this was just annoying and inconvenient. But after 2:30 p.m., the image that I saw changed my mind. What I saw was a hawk – a hawk that’s been known to live somewhere on office grounds for several years – perched on a rail right outside of my building. It appeared injured, which was made more apparent when my whole office appeared in front of it without it even attempting to leave. Fortunately for the hawk, at least I hope, NYC’s local animal rescue was called. A man came in, caught the hawk and brought it to get all fixed up. Let’s cross our fingers that it gets better soon!! As I see it, wildlife is never meant to be tamed.
